EU Directives threaten supplements.

700 Health Food Shops could close!

2000 people could lose their jobs, according to a survey done by the National Association of Health stores (NAHS).

Supplements will be limited to such low doses they will become useless and all that will be left will be low dose rubbish.

Several of us at the Beanbag rely on high dose quality supplements for maintaining good health, this will also apply to thousands of consumers who will resort to the black market or internet sites to get what they need.

It is ludicrous that our Government and its Departments like the Food Standards Agency have no power to decide what we will do in our own country and can be dictated to by the EU.

The knock on effect

A couple of years ago John, the man in the Beanbag, did a quick telephone survey of companies whose products we sell, these were not supplements but food, body care etc.

Ten companies were contacted, they were all very helpful and all but one said that the closure of many Health Food Shops would seriously affect their business.

There are dozens of small specialist companies that sell most of their products through Health Food Shops so the EU Directive will have far reaching consequences if implemented.

If this bothers you then please join Consumers for Health Choice (CHC) and listen to their requests to write to MPs etc.

I have spoken to David Cameron about the issues, he is fundamentally on our side but the Conservative Party are hedging their bets about the EU and a referendum, so the more letters that David Cameron gets about this issue the better.
